PROGROCK RECORDS SET TO RELEASE “Schematism ~ Onstage With Under The Sun”
31 Jul 2011
Rancho Santa Margarita, CA – 15 February 2005 – The first live album from Los Angeles progressive rock quartet Under The Sun is now available. “Schematism ~ Onstage With Under The Sun” is culled from the band’s performance in 2001 at the NEARfest music festival, held yearly in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and has been mixed by producer/engineer Brad Aaron (of Kansas fame). Brad came into the picture with this live recording full of energy and enthusiasm for the band; he’s known as having two of the best ears in the business, he mixes with an impact that really compliments the band’s style, and his aural sensibility is so deep it’s scary. The songs from the first disc take on a whole new light in this context… And it sounds incredible when played loud! “Schematism ~ Onstage With Under The Sun” is unlike any other stereo live disc you’ve heard before. The stereo-imaging of the traditionally-recorded live setting has been reversed… This disc has been mixed and mastered in such a way as to put YOU onstage with the band… An excerpt from the liner notes by Brad Aaron says it best: “From audio-effects swimming across stage through the stereo side-fill monitor speakers and floor wedges, to the slap-echo of the lead guitar, vocals, and drums off the rear wall of the hall reflecting back to the stage, all of these sonic elements within the mix of the performance have been painstakingly-detailed and speaks to the “schematism" for this CD. This album is not one of those “washed-out”, “wide-mono”, “live” CD’s that puts you in the crowd, away from the stage, with all subtleties reduced to an audio-blur emanating from far away… This CD is different. When the audience applauds, you do not hear it from the crowd’s perspective – the audience is in front of you at your feet (except for the balcony)… There is much more stereo detail here… All the detail of being onstage with the band.” With beautiful artwork consisting of an original cover portrait by legendary Kansas member Kerry Livgren and accompanying graphics rendered by artist Jason McSheehy, detailed text (including liner notes by both Sea Of Tranquility publisher Pete Pardo and Brad Aaron) and a powerful one-take UTS performance of stunning sonic depth and clarity, this new release features nearly all the material from their Magna Carta debut (plus an as-yet-unreleased epic track "Souljourner") and is guaranteed to get your blood flowing, blow back whatever hair you have left on your head, and – put you onstage with Under The Sun!!! “Schematism ~ On Stage With Under The Sun” is available for pre-order here and will begin shipping March 1, 2005.
