Rewiring Genesis to perform Live in Whittier August 1, 2009
31 Jul 2011
CalProg will be hosting "Rewiring Genesis - A Live Tribute to the Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" featuring Nick D'Virgilio (Spock's Beard, Tears for Fears) on August 1 at the Center Theater in Whittier. For those of you that are not familiar with the album, it is not a typical "tribute" album, but more an artistic reinterpretation of the classic Genesis album. The Musical Box played to sell-out crowds all over the world (including Whittier) a few years ago performing "The Lamb", but what they did was an "exact recreation" of the original tour, note for note, audience patter and all. But this is totally different. The band includes horns, female singers, strings and even an accordion. According to Nick, there will be "between 10-12 people" performing. NDV and Rewiring partner Mark Hornsby co-produced the album using some of the best studio musicians in Nashville. Most of the original band will be performing at the show in Whittier. For those of you that were lucky enough to attend Nick's Shaming of the True show, you know what the man can do when he goes after a big production. This promises to be one of those landmark events that will only happen once, but will be the subject of discussions for years to come. If you're a fan of Genesis (and what prog fan ISN'T?), you'll want to see this show!
